Often a farmer’s most prized possession, the paddy goes through a series of tests to check for quality and consistency. Most of the paddy we process goes for export, hence our sourcing team is a stickler for quality. When the quality is right (best in the world), we send it to our state-of-the-art rice mills in Haryana, from where the best quality basmati rice comes 1 step closer to you.
There are two pillars to creating an efficient Basmati rice milling process – Machinery and Technical Expertise. We are proud to say that we have both. The milling process involves several steps that help improve the appearance, texture, and quality of the rice while removing impurities and unwanted substances.
First, the paddy is thoroughly cleaned using air blowers. Then the outer husk or hull of the rice grain is removed. After husking the paddy kernels are separated from the unhulled rice using machines such as paddy separators or aspirators. This process ensures that only the paddy kernels move forward for further processing.
The paddy kernels are then subjected to a whitening process, which involves removing the bran layer from the rice grain. After the whitening process, the rice is polished to further enhance its appearance and smoothness. The milled rice is then graded and sorted based on size, shape, and quality. The final step involves packaging the milled basmati rice and getting it ready for distribution and sale.
